Seasonal Roots & New Glow: A Tranquil Update from the Wick

  • May 16

A certain quiet settles over the studio in the off-season. It's not empty; it feels more like a brownstone morning before the block fully awakens. Soft light spills onto the stoop, coffee in hand, allowing a moment of stillness before the city begins to stir.

In these past few months, I have embraced that quiet. I’ve spent time in our Brooklyn workspace, surrounded by warm soy wax, glass jars, and the steady rhythm of crafting by hand. This season always brings me back to gratitude for work, for growth, and for the people who consistently support this small business with so much heart.

As the founder and candle artisan behind Tranquil Wicks, I use this slower time to reflect and rebuild. I take the opportunity to test, to pray, to listen, and to make room for what’s next. Today, I want to share a few updates with you gently, like opening the door and welcoming you in.

The Ritual of the Return: May 23rd

A Brooklyn morning arrives with the sun sliding across the sidewalk, neighbors stepping out onto their stoops, and market tents going up. Small talk, warm smiles, and that familiar neighborhood hum return after winter.

I’m grateful to share that the Bushwick's Farmers Market season starts on May 23rd.

For me, the market has always been about more than just selling candles. It’s about connection. It’s about seeing familiar faces, meeting new ones, and sharing something made by hand with care. That kind of exchange means a lot to me. It feels personal and rooted.

There’s something beautiful about slowing down long enough to smell a candle in person. To hold the vessel. To notice what rises first—a soft floral note, a grounding wood, a little spark of memory. Those moments matter, and I’ve missed them.

Convenience Meets Community: Delivery and Pickup

I know life moves fast. The train is late, the phone keeps buzzing, and the outside world can feel loud. That's why I wanted to make it easier to bring a little calm home.

We now offer delivery to Bushwick and Market Pickup.

If you’re nearby, local delivery simplifies receiving your candles without adding another errand to your day. And if you plan to stop by the market, Market Pickup allows you to order ahead while still enjoying that in-person moment. Easy, thoughtful, and neighbor to neighbor.

To me, this is part of the care too: meeting people where they are and making peace more reachable.

Forging New Paths: The Steel Embers Collection

This season has brought something new to the table: something deeper, more grounded, and steadier in its presence.

We officially launched our Steel Embers line for men, and the response has meant a lot to me. These scents are designed for those who seek calm without sweetness, warmth without noise, and strength with softness at the edges.

Ironwood Reserve features notes that evoke worn wood, quiet confidence, and a long exhale at the end of the day. Urban Forge  captures the essence of the city, embodying that Brooklyn contrast I love so much, grit and glow, steel and amber, motion and rest.

This line feels especially close to my heart. It reflects resilience, care, and a kind of grounded masculinity that makes room for peace at home.

The Art of Becoming

One thing candle making keeps teaching me is this: not everything blooms on demand. Some things need time. Some things need patience. Some things need to sit quietly on the shelf and become what they were meant to be.

Right now, several new specialty lines are curing and coming soon.

I’m not ready to share every detail just yet. But I can say this with excitement and gratitude: there is more on the way. New blends. New moods. New little pockets of peace for your space. The process has felt slow in the best way. Intentional. Honest. Like tending a flame instead of forcing it.

That matters to me. In a world that rushes everything, I want what we make here to arrive with care.

A Soft Launch: Moments to Remember

We also had a soft launch for our Candle Party Favors.

This offering feels tender and special to me. It was inspired by the kinds of gatherings I grew up around. Family celebrations. Full tables. Music in the background. People being cared for with warmth and intention. That spirit stays with me.

These favors are a small way to share that feeling with others. A little glow your guests can carry home. We’re still refining the details, and more information is coming in June. But I wanted to let you in on it now, while it is still fresh and growing.

More Than Just a Purchase: My Tranquility Rewards

I also spent time updating our rewards program, My Tranquility. I wanted it to feel simple. Welcoming. Worthwhile. A real thank you.

Every order supports handmade work here in Brooklyn. Every return visit means something to me. So this updated program is one more way to give back with intention. Think exclusive perks, early access, and little moments of appreciation along the way. Less like points on a screen. More like neighborhood hospitality. More like being remembered when you come back through the door.

The Comfort of Home

Embracing the Glow

As we move from the quiet work of the off-season into this next chapter, I keep coming back to one simple feeling: gratitude.

Gratitude for steady hands. For fresh ideas. For neighbors who support local makers. For the chance to build something beautiful, one pour at a time.

Whether you find your peace in the grounded strength of our Steel Embers line or in the familiar comfort of a candle, my hope is the same. That what we make helps your home feel softer, warmer, and more settled.

So if you’re planning to visit us starting May 23rd, or if you simply want to explore from home with Bushwick delivery or Market Pickup, know that you are always welcome here.

Thank you for being part of this journey. It means more than I can fully say. I’m excited for what is coming. And I’m grateful to share it with you, one flickering glow at a time.

With warmth and gratitude,

Robert Viquez Founder & Candle Artisan, Tranquil Wicks LLC
